WHO YOU'RE SUPPORTING

Our Mission
Breaking the Chains Foundation is committed to the prevention of body-focused and mental well-being stigmas. Our mission is to use the power of art and expression to foster creativity, build connections, and create a community in which individuals can thrive.
We do this by transforming research and personal stories into artistic programs aimed at increasing self-love, self-esteem, self-compassion, and self-awareness. Tapping into those internal strengths and protective factors can greatly enhance mental, physical, and emotional health. Whereas experiencing stigma of mental health struggles, isolation, and the pressures of body-focused societal messages are examples of links in the chains that bind us.
Our programs and advocacy are designed to Break these Chains!

Big C New Me
Big C New Me is a program serving cancer survivors and caregivers. We help women, men, and teens deal with the challenges of living with the side effects of cancer and treatment by providing confidence-building resources.
We step in when treatment ends and you ask, “What now?”.
The Power Crew
This is our most popular program. To date, we have served over 191 cancer survivors and/or caregivers.
When a survivor is faced with "getting back to real life", but doesn't know where to start, this is a good boost of confidence. Not only is it a day of fun and pampering, we connect survivors to the support systems they need, such as counselors, support groups, bra fittings, hair and wig stylist, scar mitigation, and wardrobe fittings to name a few.
In the words of a survivor:
Cancer is a thief that attempted to steal my life, my dreams, my dignity, time, self-esteem and joy. The process left me feeling like I had lost a great deal of the person I was accustomed to seeing when I looked in the mirror each day, and that was more devastating than I ever expected.
[Big C New Me] understood that it is not vain or trivial to want to feel good about your looks. This event allowed me to forget all the "bad stuff" for a day and just be pampered and valued. Thanks for so much joy!
THANKS TO THE 2024 NIGHT OUT SPONSORS!
